Welcome to Thorncliffe Bed and Breakfast in Pentewan

Pat and Jim warmly welcome you to our home from home Bed & Breakfast in the lovely village of Pentewan on the Cornish Riviera. Our bed and breakfast overlooks the old harbour and stunning sandy child friendly beach in Pentewan.

We are situated just minutes away from the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden and the old Cornish (still active) fishing port of Mevagissey.

We are open from March to September. As this is a Cornish cottage our accommodation is not suitable for children under 12 years or pets. It is also a non-smoking house, but guests are more than welcome to smoke in the garden. We have a parking space outside the house and in the village car park a just few yards away.

We also have free wi-fi in the house. If you would like anymore information, please don't hesitate to phone/email us as we are more than happy to help.

Pentewan - The name Pentewan is from the Cornish language, PEN meaning a headland and TEWAN or Towan meaning a sand-hill, hillocks or dunes. The village is built around a circular hill known as The Round. It is known that an Iron Age settlement was situated on this hill as traces of hut circles and an entrenchment have been discovered. Pentewan is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086 where it states, “The Manor of Pentewan was held by Osulf”.
